This year in Kindergarten we will have so much fun learning all of your letters and sounds and sight words so you can be the best readers you can be! You will learn how to count, add, explore and so much more! Kindergarten will be such a big year of growth! Learning how to be independent and make choices for yourselves!
Our goals this year for reading are to have students be able to know all of their letters and sounds by October and be able to start reading some sight words independently. Students should be able to read 40 sight words by the end of the year and be able to read simple readers filled with many sight words. Please read with your child everyday and talk about what you have read. The more exposure your child has to literacy, the easier it will be for them to gain proficiency.
Some of the goals in Math are to count to 100 by ones, fives and tens, add and subtract within 10, using tens frames, number racks and number lines. Please practice counting to 100 with your child at home. By the end of the year, they should be able to count to 100 independently.
I can’t wait to watch you grow this year!
